Importance These mountains were where Lord Shiva lived before Vishnu came for penance and decided to stay. He disguised himself as a beautiful child and began wailing. The child's screams disturbed Shiva and exasperated, he left for Kedarnath. Shiva's influences remained in the region, especially in its name Badri.
Famous For Badrinath is one of the holiest Hindu spots in the country and together with Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, forms the Char Dham (Four Holy Shrines).
